Job summary

Cook Children’s Medical Center is seeking a Patient Access Specialist for the Mansfield Multi-speciality Clinic and Urgent Care Center. The role focuses on registering patients, collecting accurate demographics and insurance details, and ensuring timely information flow to support patient care and reimbursement.

The incumbent will handle scheduling, front office intake, and provide clear explanations of required documents while maintaining HIPAA and organizational policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of Hospital admissions or equivalent experience.
• Other hospital or physician office or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of health care insurance and managed care preferred.
• Ability to type, spell, write or print legibly with general knowledge of personal computers.
• Strong interpersonal communication, documentation and customer service skills.
• Medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect accurate demographic and third‑party information for each visit.
• Explain and obtain necessary consent or documents; ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of JCAHO, Patient Rights and Responsibilities and departmental policies.
• Schedule appointments and perform front office intake tasks as needed.
• This role does not provide direct patient care but supports the care process at the clinic and hospital.
