Job summary

Cook Children’s is seeking a Patient Access Specialist at the Hurst facility to support 24/7 registration, front desk intake, and scheduling. This role emphasizes accuracy in patient demographics and third-party information while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and related policies.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and customer service skills, experience in hospital admissions or similar settings, and the ability to use PCs effectively.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years of hospital admissions or equivalent experience required.
• Experience in hospitals or physician offices or equivalent experience required.
• Ability to type, spell, write or print legibly with general knowledge of personal computers.
• Strong interpersonal communication, documentation and customer service skills required.
• Knowledge of health care insurance and managed care preferred.
• Medical terminology preferred.
• Strong Customer Service Skills preferred.
• 3 years of Patient Access Specialist experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Registration information for patient visits with high accuracy.
• Obtain patient demographic and third-party information.
• Schedule appointments and perform front office intake functions.
• Maintain knowledge of HIPAA, patient rights and related policies.
• Explain and deploy required legal, ethical, and compliance documents to patients.
