Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• 1 year related experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• RHIT or RHIA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with information needed to improve patient flow and collaborate with departments.
• Handle patient check-in and registration, insurance verification, and copay collection.
• Obtain and verify essential supporting documentation for proper coding and billing charges.
• Provide patients with required forms and notices (Billing Rights, Privacy Notice, etc.).
• Review patient charts for completeness and timely processing.
• Assign patient rooms and monitor bed availability.
• Maintain ED tracking board with current patient locations and complaints.
• Coordinate gathering of accurate patient billing information and account receivables.
• Process patient payments and manage petty cash.
• Explain patient liability and answer inquiries.
