Job summary

Optum is seeking a Patient Access Representative to provide patient-centered front office support in a clinic setting. You will greet and check in patients, collect co-pays and insurance payments, and perform front office duties in a fast-paced environment.

You will work 100% onsite at our Phoenix location with training and schedule details provided. This role emphasizes accuracy in data entry, insurance verification, and compassionate patient interactions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• 1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office or call center setting.
• Ability to work 100% onsite at 350 W. Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ.
• Ability to work 4:30am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients and/or families to complete the registration process, collecting demographics, health information and verifying insurance eligibility.
• Uses computer systems to enter or verify patient data in real-time with accuracy.
• Gathers clinical information and processes referrals, pre-certifications, pre-determinations and pre-authorizations.
• Verifies insurance coverage, benefits and creates price estimates; performs reverifications as needed.
• Collects patient co-pays and discusses out-of-pocket obligations with patients.
• Identifies outstanding balances and collects amounts due from previous visits.
• Coordinates with provider offices to schedule patient services prior to discharge.
• Responds to patient and caregiver inquiries with compassion and respect.
• Generates and analyzes patient data reports and follows up on inconsistencies.
