Job summary

CHI St. Joseph’s Health of Park Rapids, part of CommonSpirit Health, is hiring a Patient Access Representative to handle patient registration and admitting across hospital access points, including Emergency Department, main registration, and admitting.

You will verify demographics, insurance eligibility, and accounts in multiple systems, ensure accurate documentation in the EHR, and support scheduling and patient communications with a focus on quality and privacy.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: 1 year experience in healthcare/patient access.
• Knowledge of patient registration procedures and health insurance payers preferred.
• Ability to verify insurance eligibility and explain financial responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient registration functions across assigned access points, ensuring accurate demographic information and insurance verification.
• Accurately scan, index, and manage patient documentation to support registration, billing, and clinical workflows.
• Communicate patient financial responsibility and collect payments at the time of service as appropriate.
• Schedule, confirm, and revise patient appointments to support timely access to care.
• Identify and resolve routine registration, insurance, and encounter discrepancies; escalate complex issues.
• Provide patient-facing support via telephone and other approved channels, routing calls and documenting interactions.
