Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Representative at Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, WI. This on-site role in the Emergency Department covers patient check-in, insurance verification, and registration, helping ensure swift and accurate start to care.

You will interact with patients and families, verify demographics and insurance, collect payments, and coordinate with clinical teams to support patient flow in a dynamic ED setting. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Healthcare front desk or patient access experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong customer service, communication, and ability to stay calm in a busy hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and families and provide compassionate customer service.
• Complete patient registration and check-in accurately and efficiently.
• Gather and verify demographic, insurance, and medical information.
• Navigate multiple computer systems while maintaining accuracy.
• Review insurance information and collect co-pays or patient payments when applicable.
• Answer patient questions with confidence, clarity, and compassion.
• Support patients who may be ill, anxious, or overwhelmed.
• Work closely with nurses, physicians, and clinical teams to support smooth patient flow.
• Help minimize registration delays in a fast-paced Emergency Department.
