Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year experience with Microsoft Windows preferred.
• 1 year insurance/clerical experience in hospital/medical office setting preferred.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Knowledge of insurance and collection of payments preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
• Ability to type and perform data entry functions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer service skills across diverse backgrounds preferred.
• Critical thinking and ability to manage stress.

Responsibilities

• Query patient demographics and enter data to obtain accurate medical records and accounts.
• Explain collection policy and collect outstanding balances, deposits, and point-of-service payments.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain necessary pre-authorizations.
• Verify Medicare diagnoses for compliance and obtain ABNs as needed.
• Obtain physician orders to support services rendered.
• Place orders for ancillary tests in the order entry system.
• Assist insurers, physician offices, and hospital departments with patient information.
• Monitor and coordinate patient placement through bed control functions.
