Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Patient Services Associate for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Department: Patient Access ED Spruce, located at 3400 Spruce St, Philadelphia, PA. This 1.0 FTE day shift role coordinates patient intake, schedules, and EPIC-based processes to support high-quality care and smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, handling calls, updating insurance/billing in EPIC, and finalizing checkout procedures, with emphasis on confidentiality

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED with 2+ years medical office or customer service experience.
• Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
• Proficiency with computer systems including EPIC, Navinet and EMR platforms is expected.

Responsibilities

• Greets and interacts with patients in a pleasant and professional manner, on phone or in person.
• Listens carefully and communicates clearly with patients to ensure understanding of patient’s request.
• Learns/anticipates patient needs and uses the best solution, updates EPIC as required.
• Establishes positive relationships with patients by demonstrating knowledge of patient history and needs.
• Handles stressful patient situations and delivers seamless service.
• Ensures patient confidentiality, safety and security.
• Identifies opportunities to improve the patient experience based on feedback.
