Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a part-time Patient Access Scheduling Representative to schedule, register, initiate pre-authorization and referrals, and maintain patient diagnostic appointments and procedures.

Under the leadership of the Patient Access team, you will collect required patient demographic and insurance information, verify coverage in real time, inform patients of requirements, and collect copays and other financial obligations with courteous service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year experience in a customer service role or health care industry.
• Preferred: 2 years experience with third party medical insurance, HMO and managed care including CPT and ICD-10 coding.

Responsibilities

• Obtains required patient demographic and insurance information for McLaren Health.
• Provides courteous and efficient services to customers and documents pre-registration information.
• Provides physician and/or diagnostic appointment scheduling.
• Maintains knowledge of insurance and authorization requirements; performs real-time verification.
• Informs patients of insurance requirements for services including authorizations and referrals.
• Estimates and collects copays, deductibles, and other patient financial obligations.
