Job summary

McLaren Health Care invites applications for a Patient Access Scheduling Representative. This role schedules and registers patients, initiates pre-authorization and referrals, and confirms appointments across McLaren Health facilities.

You will verify insurance, collect copays, and guide patients through the pre-registration process to ensure smooth access to care. Candidates should have a high school diploma and at least 1 year in customer service or healthcare, with knowledge of insurance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience in a customer service role or health care industry preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding and medical terminology is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Obtains required patient demographic and insurance information for McLaren Health, governmental requirements, billing and third-party payer needs.
• Provides courteous and efficient services to customers and accurately documents/verifies patient pre-registration information.
• Provides physician and/or diagnostic appointment scheduling.
• Maintains knowledge of insurance and authorization requirements. Performs real-time insurance verification and interprets responses.
• Informs patient of insurance requirements for services provided such as authorizations/pre-certifications and referrals.
• Estimates and collects copays, deductibles, and other patient financial obligations.
• Handles inbound and outbound calls with the goal of growing business, customer satisfaction, and customer retention.
• Maintains professionalism and diplomacy, following department policy.
