Job summary

Community Health Centers of Southeastern Iowa, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Representative in West Burlington, IA to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, schedule appointments, collect payments, and ensure a welcoming experience. You will work with the clinic’s EHR and help maintain accurate records.

You will verify Medicaid/insurance, assist with required forms, and support smooth patient flow while upholding HIPAA standards and delivering strong customer service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• 3–6 months related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors professionally and courteously.
• Register patients by verifying demographics and insurance information.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments in the clinic’s EHR system.
• Ensure required forms are completed, including Sliding Fee applications.
• Scan and file patient registration forms in the practice management system.
• Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances; provide receipts.
• Answer incoming calls and direct inquiries to appropriate departments.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Assist patients with completing necessary forms and documentation.
• Complete Medicaid verifications for applicable next-day appointments.
• Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow and communication.
• Monitor waiting area for cleanliness and organization.
• Ensure end-of-day procedures are completed before leaving.
