Job summary

Spokane Eye Clinic is seeking a Patient Service Representative to handle full-cycle patient interactions in person, by phone, or online, including scheduling, registrations, and financial counseling. You will verify demographics, insurance, and referrals, while ensuring HIPAA compliance and accurate patient records.

Daily duties include coordinating billing inquiries, payments, and patient flow, with occasional travel to other sites.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in a patient-facing healthcare function or customer service preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bilingual a plus is noted in the skills section.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and complete patient registrations for appointments with attention to policies and accuracy.
• Initiate pre-registration and verify demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance benefits and referral information.
• Obtain ID and insurance cards and validate patient identity and coverage.
• Adhere to HIPAA and protect patient privacy.
• Facilitate smooth patient flow through the care process.
• Provide information on appointments, policies, and costs to patients.
• Offer upfront financial counseling and explain payment options and plans.
• Collect funds per guidelines and explain financial obligations.
• Serve as liaison for patients, physicians, and staff to resolve issues.
• Notify relevant parties of appointment details and requirements.
• Train other patient services representatives and provide excellent service.
• Comply with company policies.
