Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking a Patient Access Representative who will be the first point of contact for patients, delivering exceptional service both on the phone and in person. You will help create a welcoming, efficient experience while handling registrations and scheduling.

duties include greeting patients, collecting payments, managing documentation, coordinating referrals, and supporting the nursing team to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate records.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent preferred; post-secondary education helps.
• 1 year of work experience, preferably in a medical office.
• Medical terminology helpful; strong customer service is essential.
• 6 months’ customer service experience desired; BLS may be required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verifies demographics.
• Create, scan and route documents or electronic forms.
• Inform patients about documents and capture signatures.
• Establish financial responsibility and assist with arrangements.
• Collect co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on accounts.
• Address registration errors or denied insurance claims.
• Coordinate appointments with nursing team and providers.
• Obtain referrals and conduct pre-authorization.
• Arrange interpreter services and check patients in/out.
• Operate multi-line phone and manage recalls/waitlists.
