Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System is seeking a Patient Access Associate to greet patients, verify demographics, and register for services in the Main ED. You will collect payments, obtain physician orders, and ensure accurate entry of data into the patient accounting system.

The role requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and HIPAA compliance, with day shift hours and weekend/holiday rotations in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Past work experience of at least 6 months in a physician office, hospital or clinic environment or payer activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Accuracy and time management abilities.
• Able to work in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Thorough understanding of HIPAA confidentiality regulations.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors warmly and determines their needs.
• Registers and verifies demographic, clinical, financial and insurance information.
• Collects co-payments, co-insurances, deductibles, deposits and balances at check-in.
• Obtains physician orders and scans documents into the patient accounting system.
• Provides information and assistance on directions, parking, transportation and services.
• Maintains data integrity and communicates with other departments to ensure smooth patient flow.
