Job summary

Eskenazi Health, the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County, seeks a Patient Access Services Specialist in Indianapolis. You will register patients, schedule visits, coordinate referrals, and inform patients about coverage and financial obligations.

You will work with multiple departments to ensure accurate data, support billing needs, and connect uninsured patients to financial counselors while maintaining high data integrity and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree accredited or equivalent required; associate degree acceptable as alternative.
• Minimum one year of experience in call center, patient registration, scheduling or related medical field.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required plus post-secondary education in business, computers or Office Management; associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient visits including new, follow-up, cancellations and rescheduling.
• Obtain accurate patient information for medical records, billing and third-party payer needs.
• Validate demographic, insurance and financial data for master patient index and accurate appointments.
• Educate patients about coverage and liabilities; connect patients to a financial counselor if needed.
• Promote collaboration and service center success; work with multiple departments to improve patient experience.
• Maintain data accuracy in systems and electronically verify patient demographics and insurance information.
• Participate in quality improvement processes as requested by supervisor/manager.
• Follow cash handling policies and procedures.
