Job summary

St. Luke's Health - The Vintage Hospital in Northwest Houston is seeking a Patient Access Clerk to perform patient registration and admitting functions across ED and main registration areas, ensuring accurate demographic and insurance information to support timely care.

You will gather, verify, and update data in the electronic health record, communicate financial responsibilities to patients, schedule appointments, and resolve routine discrepancies while delivering friendly, patient-centered

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED at hire.
  • 1 year healthcare/patient access experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of registration procedures, health insurance payers, and real-time eligibility verification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient registration across assigned access points, ensuring accurate demographics and insurance verification per policy.
  • Accurately scan, index, and manage patient documents to support registration, billing, and clinical workflows.
  • Communicate patient financial responsibility using tools and scripts, and collect payments when appropriate.
  • Schedule, confirm, and revise patient appointments to support timely access to care and clinic workflows.
  • Identify and resolve routine registration, insurance, and encounter discrepancies; escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Provide patient-facing support via phone and other approved channels, documenting interactions as required.
