Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Part-time Patient Registration Associate in North Carolina to register patients for admissions and outpatient services. You will verify insurance coverage, obtain necessary authorizations, and coordinate with scheduling to arrange authorizations or upfront deposits.

The role involves updating schedules for cancellations and changes in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED, with a preference for a Bachelor's degree, and strong

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Ability to key 40 wpm.
Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred.
Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third party reimbursement preferred.
Excellent communication skills and customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

Registers or pre-registers all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization for services that require authorization, pre-certification, and/or referral.
Coordinates with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures until authorization or patient payment can be arranged, and requests upfront deposits.
Updates schedule for cancellations, rescheduling, and other changes on an ongoing basis.
