Ahhmgt is seeking a detail-focused Scheduling Specialist in Eunice, LA to manage patient appointments, pre-registrations, and insurance coordination for outpatient procedures. The role requires timely communication with patients and physician offices, accurate data collection, and collaboration with multiple hospital departments.

Responsibilities include ensuring prior approvals where necessary, handling Medicare-related prerequisites, and guiding uninsured patients to financial counseling.

Responsibilities

• Accurately schedules patients with a 2% error rate or less.
• Demonstrates understanding of all preps for procedures and communicates preps to patients and physician's office at scheduling.
• Accurately pre-register scheduled patients, collecting demographic and insurance information and handling co-pay and deductible details.
• Obtain information from physician office to verify insurance and demographics and pre-register patients for testing (e.g., pre-cert numbers).
• Coordinate with hospital departments to ensure efficient scheduling of outpatient procedures; answer and return calls promptly.
• Coordinate scheduling of special testing requiring anesthesia, radiology, or other specialty areas.
• Check medical necessity of scheduled tests for Medicare patients and secure prior approvals as needed.
• Proficiently use computer systems to access patient information, email, and required systems.
• Refer uninsured/underinsured patients to financial counselors promptly.
• Maintain cost-conscious approach and utilize time and resources efficiently.
• Perform special projects as assigned to support the organization's mission and values.
• Collect medications from patients for IV contracts, fax to pharmacy for approval, and communicate any med changes prior to testing.
