UnityPoint Health in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Patient Scheduling Coordinator to manage complex appointments, diagnostic tests, and surgeries while ensuring timely access. You will verify insurance, secure authorizations, update the EMR, and coordinate with clinic staff to optimize scheduling and patient experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, or related field preferred.
• Three (3) years of customer service OR healthcare related experience required.
• Three (3) years of experience working in medical front office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, and maintaining medical records preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, tests, surgeries across multiple providers while following protocols.
• Greet patients, check in, assist with forms, and prioritize high-priority cases for timely access.
• Coordinate multi-service appointments and manage calls to optimize patient access.
• Secure pre-certifications, insurance information, and financial data as needed.
• Update EMR with accurate patient demographics, insurance and procedure data.
