Job summary

CommonSpirit Health seeks a Patient Access Representative to manage the patient intake process in our clinic, handling check-in/out, data collection, insurance validation, scheduling, and referrals. You will interact with patients in person and by phone, applying guidelines and ensuring a high-quality intake experience.

You will use knowledge of billing, insurance, and medical terminology to support patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required at hire.
• Minimum 1 year of experience at hire.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of insurance, billing, and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages patient intake duties, including check-in/check-out, data collection, and payments.
• Validates insurance and schedules appointments; processes referrals and authorizations.
• Interacts with patients in person and by phone; articulates information clearly and courteously to patients, guarantors, and staff.
• Counsels patients regarding their third‑party coverage and billing procedures.
• Communicates patient responsibility estimates based on deductible, coinsurance, and co-pay designs.
• Performs collection and financial assistance activities as needed.
