Job summary

The Genesis HealthCare System is hiring a Patient Access Associate who will greet patients, verify demographics, insurance information, and collect co-pays at check-in. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a physician office, hospital, or clinic environment preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Knowledge of insurance documentation requirements and billing processes preferred.
• Understanding HIPAA confidentiality regulations is required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, family members and visitors in a courteous manner and collect required information.
• Determine patient service needs based on orders and schedules, and refer to appropriate departments.
• Collect co-payments/coinsurances/deductibles at check-in and provide receipts.
• Validate Medicare and non-Medicare cases for clinical and financial clearance.
• Obtain physician orders and scan documents into the patient accounting system.
• Assist with pre-registration and provide directions, parking, and service information.
• Maintain data integrity and communicate with ancillary departments to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Train or cross-train staff as needed and support department managers.
