Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a detail-oriented patient access professional to manage check-ins, verify demographics, and communicate financial responsibilities to patients. This role supports kiosk use, handles insurance processing, completes regulatory forms, and coordinates follow-up appointments and referrals.

The position requires accurate data entry, excellent communication, and the ability to mediate between patients, providers, and insurance plans. Office environment work is typical.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients for appointments and verify demographics.
• Ensure all check-in procedures are completed and monitor patient wait times; provide kiosk support as needed.
• Read and interpret insurance responses to assign primary, secondary, and tertiary coverages per encounter.
• Ensure patients receive required disclosure and privacy information; obtain necessary signatures.
• Explain financial obligations to patients and collect fees at time of service as appropriate.
• Complete regulatory forms with patients as required.
• Schedule follow-up appointments including specialty or ancillary services when applicable.
• Process multi-channel messages about appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
• Notify patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibility and collect accordingly.
• Perform cash posting following department guidelines.
• Manage work queues to resolve accounts promptly while maintaining productivity and quality.
• Maintain medical record maintenance and releases.
• Assist with referrals and pre-certifications at the time of encounter.
• Utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists.
