Job summary

St. Tammany Health System is seeking a Patient Access Representative to ensure efficient check-in/out and top-tier customer service. You will schedule appointments, verify insurance, collect copays, and maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines, while handling multi-line calls and processing documents into Medical Records.

This role requires strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to work in a busy healthcare setting; prior medical terminology knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to operate a computer, copier and fax machine.
• Must possess good communication skills and a great deal of patience.
• Medical office experience preferred.
• Should have previous medical terminology.
• Must be willing to learn all aspects of the office and be a team player.
• Must be able to work well with others in a very busy environment.
• Must maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

Responsibilities

• Complete efficient and organized check-in/out for patients.
• Schedule appointments and verify insurance during registration.
• Collect copayments and patient balances.
• Answer multi-line phones politely and direct calls appropriately.
• Scan or file documents into the Medical Record as needed.
