Job summary

Geisinger in Scranton, PA seeks a part-time patient access specialist for rotating night shifts (8pm–8am). You will check patients in, verify demographics, explain financial obligations, and schedule follow-ups while maintaining HIPAA standards.

You will interact with patients, read insurance responses, and handle referrals and imaging or lab appointments as required. This role emphasizes accuracy and communication in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Experience with patient check-in and accurate verification of demographics.
• Ability to read and interpret insurance responses and assign coverages.
• Familiarity with collecting fees and communicating financial obligations.

Responsibilities

• Check patients in for appointments and verify demographics.
• Notify patients of wait times and communicate changes.
• Process insurance information and determine primary/secondary/tertiary coverages.
• Obtain signatures and disclose privacy information per HIPAA guidelines.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and referrals as needed.
• Handle multi-channel messages regarding appointments, referrals, and prescriptions.
