Mount Sinai Health System is hiring for a front desk/Patient Access role in New York, NY. You will greet patients, update demographics and verify insurance to ensure proper coverage for the physician seen and coordinate with clinical staff to prepare charts.

This role requires strong customer service, accuracy, and knowledge of HIPAA. Responsibilities include collecting co-pays, scheduling follow-ups, processing referrals, and maintaining PHI in the practice management system.

Qualificações

• Front desk or patient-facing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare privacy.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to verify insurance and update demographics.

Responsabilidades

• Greet patients either in person or via telephone, and update their insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
• Assure that physician accepts insurance that patients present with. Verify insurance prior to visit if needed.
• Communicate with appropriate staff regarding patient's arrival, and ensure that patient medical record is available for physician.
• Process/update HIPAA-related paperwork and other institutional forms as necessary.
• Collect or retrieve referrals or insurance authorizations as required.
• Review status of waiting room and inform patients of wait times.
• Collect co-pays and provide receipts following cash-control processes.
• May schedule follow-up appointments and provide guidelines for requesting medical records.
• May perform simple charge entry tasks or enter payments collected; cashier duties may be exclusive.
• Answer phones and schedule appointments.
• Follow HIPAA and PHI handling requirements.
• May initiate reminder calls for next day appointments.
