Albany Medical College is seeking a Pre-Service Specialist I to handle the initial touchpoint with patients, scheduling services for hospital and practice settings. The role requires navigating a high-volume contact center, interpreting complex scheduling needs with empathy, and verifying insurance eligibility to determine financial obligations.

The position offers a pathway to a higher career ladder with potential promotion to Pre-Service Specialist II after one year, based on performance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical terminology and insurance knowledge preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment.
• Strong patient-centered communication and empathy.

Responsabilités

• Schedule appointments and services for the assigned service line via the scheduling system following scripting and protocols.
• Identify trigger words, symptoms and patient concerns and triage calls to the Clinic Nursing team per protocol.
• Capture demographic and insurance information for accurate registration.
• Interpret information from Insurance Payers regarding patient eligibility and financial responsibility.
• Discuss and collect patient financial obligations pre-services via cash, credit card or check.
• Interpret referrals to meet scheduling needs and support clinical workflow.
• Manage electronic health record templates and ensure accurate registration.
• Comply with Federal, State, and Third-Party payer regulations for pre-registration.
