Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Registration Specialist for Georgetown University Hospital’s Emergency Department. You will handle inpatient and outpatient registration, verify insurance, and secure authorizations to ensure accurate billing and timely reimbursement.

The role requires strong communication, detail orientation, and familiarity with registration systems. Training includes a 1–2 month day shift before night shift. Parking is provided for night shifts.

Qualifications

• Must have customer service experience in a hospital or similar setting.
• Experience with hospital registration, insurance verification, or medical billing is required.

Responsibilities

• Register inpatients and outpatients, collecting accurate demographics and insurance information.
• Verify eligibility and obtain referral/authorization as needed to ensure smooth revenue cycle.
• Input data into registration and billing systems with accuracy and timeliness.
• Present payment responsibility and related financial information to patients and families.
• Communicate with insurers, providers, and departments to resolve issues impacting reimbursement.
