Job summary

MedStar Health at Georgetown University Hospital seeks a Patient Access Associate I to be the first point of contact for patients, guests, and families. You will perform registration using designated systems, verify demographics and insurance, explain payment options, and ensure HIPAA compliance in every interaction.

The role requires 1–2 years of customer service and patient registration experience, with a full-time evening shift and a 2-day training upon hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years Customer service experience required.
• 1-2 years Patient registration experience preferred.
• 1-2 years Hospital experience or healthcare setting preferred.
• CHAA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies and safety standards.
• Answers telephone calls; schedules, reschedules and confirms appointments.
• Creates encounters and collects patient information for requested services.
• Greets patients on arrival and verifies information.
• Collects demographics and insurance details; verifies eligibility.
• Explains payment options, including plans and financial assistance.
• Requests documents and communicates payment requirements for co-pays/deductibles.
• Follows patient identification and hand-off procedures.
• Attends system Patient Access meetings.
