Job summary

Geisinger Primary Care Mount Pocono is seeking a front line office assistant to provide patient registration and scheduling support. You will greet patients, handle check-in/out processes, verify demographics, and assist with insurance and billing-related tasks in a busy outpatient setting.

The role involves coordinating appointments, handling multi-channel communications, and ensuring HIPAA compliance while maintaining patient confidentiality and efficient office operations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED – Required.
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience – Preferred.
  • Certification(s) and License(s): None required.

  • Schedule follow-up appointments and referrals as needed.
  • Handle multi-channel messages regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.

Job Summary

Responsible for front line support to the department. Coordinates and performs front line office activities in an effective and efficient manner for the department. Greets and registers incoming patients, supports the patient check out process and schedules future appointments as applicable.

Responsibilities
  • Check patients in for appointments and accurately verify demographics.
  • Assure all check‑in procedures are completed and monitor patient wait times, communicating changes to patients as necessary.
  • Read and interpret insurance responses, understand general guidelines and insurance rank requirement to properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter.
  • Ensure patients receive necessary disclosure and privacy information, obtain necessary legal and financial signatures.
  • Communicate financial obligations to patients and collect fees at time of service as appropriate.
  • Communicate the purpose of and complete all necessary regulatory forms with patients.
  • Complete patient’s visit by scheduling any necessary follow‑up appointments to include any specialty or ancillary services as possible.
  • Process multi‑channel messages related to patient and/or physician requests regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
  • Notify patient or guarantor of anticipated financial responsibility including copays, deductibles, or coinsurances and collect accordingly.
  • Perform cash posting following department guidelines.
  • Abide by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality and patient rights.
  • Independently work through work queues to ensure timely resolution of all accounts.
  • Maintain productivity and quality performance expectations.
  • Maintain high regard for confidentiality.
  • Accurately perform medical record maintenance and releases.
  • Assist with referrals and pre‑certifications, at the time of encounter.
  • Properly utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists.
  • Work is typically performed in an office environment and is accountable for satisfying all job‑specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
