Job Summary
Responsible for front line support to the department. Coordinates and performs front line office activities in an effective and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Greets and registers incoming patients, supports patient check‑out process and schedules future appointments.
- Checks patients in for appointments, verifies demographics, ensures check‑in procedures are completed.
- Monitors patient wait times and communicates changes to patients.
- Reads and interprets insurance responses and assigns primary, secondary, tertiary insurance per encounter.
- Provides necessary disclosure and privacy information, obtains legal and financial signatures.
- Communicates financial obligations and collects fees at time of service as appropriate.
- Completes regulatory forms and schedules any necessary follow‑up appointments.
- Processes multi‑channel messages related to appointments, referrals, prescriptions, complaints.
- Notifies patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibility and collects accordingly.
- Performs cash posting following department guidelines.
- Abides by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality and rights.
- Works independently with work queues to ensure timely resolution of all accounts.
- Maintains productivity and quality performance expectations.
- Accurately performs medical record maintenance and releases.
- Assists with referrals and pre‑certifications at the time of encounter.
- Maintains patient recall and reschedule lists.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) – required.
- Minimum of one year related work experience – preferred.
