Job summary

ECU Health, including The Outer Banks Hospital, seeks a PRN Registration/Patient Service role to schedule and register patients across all services. You’ll collect essential data, coordinate with physician offices, and help ensure accurate billing with third-party payers.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills, plus relevant healthcare registration experience and basic computer proficiency.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 2 years Customer Service required.
• 1–2 years Registration and/or Billing experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Excellent communication (written and oral) required.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Create the first impression of ECU Health’s services for patients and external customers.
• Perform outpatient scheduling and patient registration for all patient types (emergency, ambulatory, inpatients).

Position Summary

Responsible for creating the first impression of the organization\'s services to patients and families and other external customers. Performs outpatient scheduling, registration for all patients (emergency, ambulatory, and inpatients) and collects proper data, documents, and signatures to ensure hospital bills will be paid by third party payer or the patient. Serves as first point of contact for physician offices and other customers regarding scheduling procedures at ECU Health.

Minimum Requirements

• High School or Equivalent (GED) or higher is required
• Associate Degree: preferred
• Bachelors Degree: preferred
• 2 years Customer Service is required
• 1 to 2 years of Registration and/or Billing experience within a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Excellent communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, organization, and multitasking skills required
• Basic computer skills

Other Information

• PRN position
• M-F as needed, will assist with scheduling and pre registration workflows to help during a upcoming maternity leave.

The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season.
