Responsibilities:
- Check patients in for appointments and verify demographics accurately.
- Complete check-in procedures, monitor patient wait times, and communicate updates as necessary.
- Read and interpret insurance responses.
- Understand insurance guidelines and rank requirements to assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance correctly.
- Ensure patients receive necessary disclosures and privacy information, and obtain legal and financial signatures.
- Communicate financial obligations to patients and collect fees at the time of service as appropriate.
- Complete all regulatory forms with patients, explaining their purpose.
- Schedule follow-up appointments, including specialty or ancillary services, to complete the patient's visit.
- Process messages related to patient and physician requests, such as appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
- Notify patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibilities and collect copays, deductibles, or coinsurances accordingly.
- Perform cash posting following department guidelines.
- Follow organizational and HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality and rights.
- Work independently on work queues to resolve accounts timely.
- Maintain productivity and quality performance standards.
- Uphold confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain and release medical records accurately.
- Assist with referrals and pre-authorizations during encounters.
- Use and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists properly.
