Job summary

Vail Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to join the HHSM team in Vail, CO. The position is full-time year-round with daytime shifts, focusing on patient registration, insurance verification, and front-desk duties.

Responsibilities include handling calls, collecting co-pays, coordinating with departments, and ensuring accurate medical records, while complying with CMS and HIPAA requirements. Training will be provided to handle required software and workflows.

Qualifications

• Customer service and clerical experience.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, basic computer skills to complete online learning, forms and enrollment tasks.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients and completes registration-related tasks, obtaining consents and authorizations and collecting financial paperwork.
• Communicates with patients to facilitate access to care via phone and in person; answers inquiries promptly and clearly.
• Resolves non-clinical questions while delivering excellent customer service.
• Performs documentation audits for medical necessity and payor requirements using EMR systems.
• Schedules procedures, educates patients on pre/post-exam requirements and sends reminders.
• Organizes and scans medical records; manages mail, email, faxes and phone inquiries.
• Manages front desk supplies and participates in staff meetings.
• Complies with CMS requirements and HIPAA, EMTALA, Joint Commission standards.
