Job summary

East Tennessee Children's Hospital is seeking a patient registration professional to obtain accurate account information, verify insurance, and expedite the admission process. This temporary role includes interaction with families and guardians, maintaining confidentiality, and handling documentation efficiently.

The position emphasizes clear communication, organization, and reliable use of office technology in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• 6 months to 1 year related experience preferred.
• Medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the registration process to meet the organization’s expectations.
• Answer phones and take reservations, assign patients to rooms, and pre-register patients to expedite admission.
• Interview/identify legal guardian to obtain necessary information and verify insurance coverage.
• Obtain precertifications/authorizations as needed and ensure all signatures are collected.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate documentation; note changes in accounts appropriately.
• Greet families warmly, introduce yourself, and offer further assistance after registration.
