Job summary

NCH Healthcare System Inc seeks a Patient Registrar to accurately register patients across inpatient, outpatient, and ER services. The role focuses on collecting demographics, insurance data, and required documentation for billing and third‑party claims processing.

You will verify benefits, secure signatures, and assist with deposits and co‑pays. Responsibilities include verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, reviewing registrations for completeness, and supporting revenue cycle

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.
• Ability to prioritize and work independently.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.

Responsibilities

• Completes all required registration/billing information accurately and timely in host system whether bedside or at registration location.
• Prepares ID armband, barcode label sheets and obtains signatures as needed for registration.
• Proficient in the Patient Accounting Registration software, scanning process, phone system, maintains accuracy requirements.
• Works with bed utilization to move patients to a unit providing/arranging transport.
• Trains and assists new employees in coordination with Revenue Cycle Trainer protocol.
• Completes insurance verification, LMRP and confirms authorizations using applicable tools.
• Reviews registration for indicators from Financial Counselors to ensure documentation for resolution is complete.
• Assists patient to complete financial information and discusses ability to pay, deposits, deductible or co-pay.
• Documents payments received, applies codes in cash posting journal per GL numbers, balances daily journals.
• Reviews accuracy of registration and corrects errors before end of shift; ensures demographics and financial class correct.
• Answers patients questions regarding Patient Bill/Right, Medicare Bill/Right, HIPAA, ABN and other PFS questions.
• Transfers patients within the patient accounting system per procedure.
