Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative in Ohio. You will be the first point of contact, handling patient registration, verifying demographics, and protecting patient identity while updating medical records accurately and efficiently.

You will schedule appointments, explain financial options, and maintain confidentiality of records. Strong customer service, communication, and basic computer skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED
• Associate Degree preferred but not required
• Prior experience in patient registration/healthcare preferred but not required
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service to patients, medical staff, and the general public
• Performs registration and basic insurance verification, ensuring accurate patient identity for billing
• Schedules appointments and transcribes orders
• Explains financial options to patients
• Maintains the confidentiality of all patients’ records and accounts
• Informs Supervisor of any department and patient issues immediately
• Answers the telephone using an established greeting and assists callers in a friendly and helpful manner
