Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years experience in healthcare office setting or strong customer service background.
  • Proficient in all registrations (inpatient, outpatient, and emergency).
  • Completes Admissions, Discharges, and Transfers in a timely manner when applicable.
  • Ability to monitor and perform all patient hospital and/or ambulatory movement.
  • Utilizes EPIC work queue to pre-register scheduled patients.
  • Verifies medical necessity in accordance with CMS standards and communicates coverage to patient.
  • Accurately identifies and enters patient demographics, insurance, and financial information.
  • Gathers and verifies confidential health and financial information from patients to assure payment.
  • Confirms the completeness of the electronic health record (EHR) and makes necessary changes.

Responsibilities

  • The APAR is the first contact for visitors, handling customer service, patient registration, and financial clearance.
  • Role includes check-ins, scheduling, and payment collection.
  • Verifies insurance and CMS compliance; communicates relevant coverage information to the patient.
  • Prepares patients administratively and financially for their visits.
