Crisp Regional Health Services seeks a Patient Access Representative to support inpatient registration, collect payments, verify insurance, and direct patients to appropriate services. Responsibilities include timely registrations, data accuracy, insurance coordination, room assignments, and collaboration with the Financial Counselor and various hospital departments.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: Up to three months of on-the-job work-related experience to learn CRHS registration policies and procedures.
• Licensure, Registrations & Certifications: On-the-job certification offered during the probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Meets and greets patients and family members, making them feel at ease with proper greeting, body language, and eye contact.
• Ensure all patients are registered in a timely manner, prioritizing during high volume periods.
• Obtain and input complete patient demographic information and verify existing information.
• Notify insurance company of admissions at registration and obtain pre-authorization.
• Process patient registrations promptly, courteously, and professionally.
• Assign a unique Medical Record Account (E) number for each patient.
• Direct patients to appropriate locations for required services.
• Obtain guarantor’s signature on all documents.
• Secure patient ID band on the patient.
• Receive payments and issue receipts by cash, check, or bank card.
• Refer self-pay patients to the Financial Counselor for screening.
• Obtain room assignments for direct admissions from the House Supervisor.
• Distribute registration records to Business Office, HIM, physicians, and appropriate departments.
• Address patient inquiries accurately and promptly.
• Provide backup for switchboard after 9:30 PM and during meal breaks; monitor alarms and notify necessary personnel.
• Comply with CRHS privacy policies and HIPAA rules.
• Attend in-service training and meetings as required.
• Adhere to CRHS policies for quality, safety, and infection control.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
