Job summary

Brown University Health Newport Hospital is seeking a patient access specialist to interview and register inpatients, outpatients, ED and observation patients, collecting demographic, insurance and financial information and entering it into the hospital system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with hospital registration and third party billing preferred.
• Data entry accuracy and attention to detail essential.

Responsibilities

• Greets and guides patients and families with courtesy and efficiency.
• Interviews patients or representatives to collect demographic and insurance information.
• Verifies demographics and insurance data and updates hospital system.
• Determines patient financial responsibilities and coordinates with Patient Financial Advocates.
• Obtains referrals and ensures proper documentation for billing and pre-registration.
• Maintains accurate records and ensures compliance with policies.
