Job summary

Miami Children’s Hospital is seeking a Registration Clerk to greet patients and families in person or by phone, collect demographics, insurance, financial and medical information, and register or pre-register patients for Health System services.

The role coordinates transfers/admissions with nursing and physicians, verifies payer information, obtains authorizations, and documents activities in the system while guiding families to the right service locations and obtaining consents as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of customer service experience is required.
• Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
• Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families in person or on the phone and obtain necessary demographic, financial, medical, and insurance information to schedule or register for Health System services.
• Coordinate patient transfers/admissions with LifeFlight, admitting nurses, and physicians as appropriate.
• Verify third-party payer information and obtain appropriate authorization for services.
• Document all activities in the patient records and QA systems and communicate with relevant departments to resolve issues.
• Collect payments and provide receipts; notify patients of deductibles and co-payments.
