Job summary

MedStar St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD is seeking a full-time Patient Access Representative to handle patient registrations, verify demographics and insurance, answer calls, and serve as the first contact for patients while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Must use FirstNet and EEM tools, maintain a low error rate, and deliver excellent customer service. Day shift with rotating weekends; wage range provided per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a hospital registration department preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare payer types required.
• CHAA certification within 2 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service as the first point of contact for registration.
• Follow registration process with an error rate < 2%.
• Create encounters and obtain patient information including insurance details.
• Proficient in Patient Registration applications (FirstNet/Registration tool).
• Lead duties in absence of Director and mentor staff.
