Job summary

MedStar Montgomery Medical Center is seeking a part-time patient registration specialist for evenings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The role involves on-site patient check-in, collecting demographic and insurance data, and handling co-pays with a focus on accuracy and customer service.

The position requires excellent English communication, HIPAA awareness, and the ability to work with multiple departments. Training and on-site classes are mandatory and must be completed upon hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required.
• 3-4 years experience in fast-paced customer service environment, preferably in medical setting.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customers.
• Moderate computer skills and HIPAA confidentiality awareness.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect demographics, insurance information, and co-pays with accuracy.
• Provide essential customer service to patients and families to ensure a smooth registration process.
• Participate in ongoing training and mandatory obligations as required by the department.
• Collaborate cross-functionally within and across departments to share knowledge and improve workflow.
