Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational training or on-the-job computer and switchboard experience preferred.
• Medical terminology and healthcare business office experience would be helpful.

Responsibilities

• Processes pre-registration for all patient types without creating duplicate medical record numbers or duplicate patient account numbers including gathering demographic and insurance information by telephone or during pre-procedure encounter.
• Processes all patient type registrations without creating duplicate medical record numbers or duplicate patient account numbers including scanning insurance card(s), entering/verifying demographic and insurance data into computer, typing and assembling packets for specific patient type, obtaining room assignment, signatures, and directing the patient to the appropriate department.
• Completes follow-up on signatures, Medicaid eligibility and Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaires; edits/prepares registrations before passing on to billing; processes transfers and discharges.
