Job summary

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Patient Access Registrar to communicate with patients, families, physicians, and insurance companies to verify information and insurance coverage. You will support registration, scheduling, charge entry, and posting deposits, ensuring accurate data and timely patient flow.

The role requires 1 year of healthcare-related clerical or customer service experience; a high school diploma, and preferred CPAR or CHAA certification.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, clinical staff, and insurance companies to obtain information and insurance verification to ensure quality patient care and payment of hospital accounts.
• Interviews patients and families to obtain complete and accurate demographic and financial information; ensures forms are completed per government/regulatory requirements.
• Enters data into systems for registration, billing, patient tracking, charge capture, and reconciliation to minimize patient wait times.
• Verifies insurance coverage and/or validates authorizations if applicable.
• Explains regulatory financial requirements to patients and collects posts deposits or deductible amounts as required.
• Assists Patient Accounting by capturing accurate data elements to produce clean claims and prevent denials.
• Serves as liaison between patient and department staff; updates patients on procedures and delays, answers questions, and relays messages.
• Updates schedulers and information tools to ensure wait time communications.
• Maintains medical records and patient confidentiality; prepares case review materials for court when needed.
• Schedules patient appointments and coordinates all aspects of scheduling, including referrals and provider visits.
