Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Access Representative in Norfolk, VA. You will handle patient registration, verify demographics and insurance information, collect payments, and explain privacy and compliance documents.

This role often serves as the first point of contact for patients and families. Responsibilities include greeting patients, guiding them to services, and possibly scheduling or discharge tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• 2 years of Customer Service and/or Data Entry experience is required.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree can substitute for two years of experience.
• Proficiency in Keyboarding is expected.

Responsibilities

• Register patients by verifying identity and selecting correct records.
• Review schedules and physician orders to register for services.
• Explain and collect co-pays, deposits, and balances securely.
• Greet patients, answer questions, and direct them to the appropriate area.
• May perform scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge duties.
