Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, clinical staff and insurance companies to obtain information and insurance verification to ensure quality patient care and payment of hospital accounts.
• Interviews patients and families to obtain demographic and financial information and ensures all necessary questionnaires and forms are completed according to requirements.
• Enters data into system for registration, billing, patient tracking, charge capture, and reconciliation to minimize patient wait times.
• Verifies insurance coverage and/or validates authorizations when applicable.
• Explains regulatory financial requirements to patient or responsible party and collects deposits or deductible amounts as required.
• Serves as liaison between patient and department staff, updating patients about procedures and delays and answering questions.
• Maintains wait time communication by updating schedulers and patient information tools.
• Handles daily medical record maintenance and confidentiality; creates patient charts and correspondence with providers as needed.
• Provides release of medical information as required.
• Supports daily operations including opening/closing procedures and restocking supplies.
• Schedules patient appointments and coordinates referrals with physician offices.
• Coordinates scheduling for procedures and visits; participates in quality/service improvement meetings.
