Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a medical office setting.
• Associate degree in a related medical field such as medical assisting or medical office administration.

Responsibilities

• Obtains demographic/billing/insurance information and enters into the registration/billing systems.
• Obtains electronic signature for consent to treat and patient financial obligations.
• Prepares consent forms and privacy notices and presents to patient/family for signatures.
• Collects deposits/co-payments/deductibles/patient liability payments and documents in systems.
• Directs patients needing financial assistance to a Financial Counselor.
• Schedules, reschedules, or cancels patients in accordance with hospital workflows.
• Communicates with hospital departments using the scheduling system.
• Maintains confidentiality according to policy and HIPAA.
• Provides information concerning insurance, payment of bills and hospital procedures.
