Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia is seeking a Patient Access Associate to support the Emergency Department and outpatient registration. You will greet patients, collect demographics and insurance information, and ensure accurate data entry.

You will verify coverage using Real Time Eligibility, payer portals, and EHR systems (EPIC/Cerner), obtain copays, and route authorizations. Previous ED registration experience is valued; training provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of hospital or physician practice patient access experience.
• Emergency Department registration experience preferred; Jefferson Seamless Access a plus.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and gather complete demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance using EPIC, Cerner, or payer portals and collect out-of-pocket amounts.
• Enter orders, confirm medical necessity, and coordinate referrals and authorizations.
• Assist with Medicare Secondary Payer questionnaire for Medicare patients.
• Rotate through outpatient registration and emergency department as needed.
