Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Patient Access Specialist to handle scheduling, preregistration, and financial clearance, presenting AHN services clearly to patients and families. The role accepts responsibility for accurate data capture, benefit verification, and timely billing submissions.

The position requires basic PC skills, prior customer service experience, and a willingness to follow HIPAA and privacy policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of related experience preferred in medical or financial services or a demanding customer service environment.
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications.

Responsibilities

• Conducts scheduling and preregistration; validates demographic data and benefits; assigns correct plan code and COB order.
• Verifies insurance information through payor contacts or online resources and identifies authorization/referral requirements.
• Calculates patient financial responsibilities and posts payments in the ADT system; escalates complex liabilities as needed.
• Delivers a positive patient experience and maintains relationships with patients, AHN leadership and staff, and external contacts.
• Maintains focus on productivity standards and suggests improvements to boost performance.
• Adheres to AHN policies; completes mandatory training and other duties as assigned.
