Job summary

INTEGRIS Community Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to act as a liaison between patients, payers and the health care team. You will collect demographic data, verify insurance, and help secure out-of-pocket payments to maximize hospital reimbursement.

Responsibilities include patient identification, scheduling, data entry, and maintaining patient records with a strong focus on customer service. Shifts are DAYS, PRN, with differential pay where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration/insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid plans and payors.
• Fluent English; Spanish in El Paso market may be required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, HIPAA and regulatory compliance.
• Provide excellent customer service and build relationships.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival.
• Answer phones and relay messages to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information for revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor.
• Obtain necessary insurance authorizations.
• Assist with collections at time of service.
• Scan registration and clinical docs into the system.
• Coordinate transfers between hospitals when needed.
• Respond to medical records requests.
• Maintain cash drawer and logs.
• Maintain visitor/vendor logs.
